This Timex men's watch doesn't require a battery or winding; it stores energy every time you move your wrist. It has a black, genuine leather band attached to a stainless steel case. The bezel is round and the black dial is easy to read with Arabic-numeral indexes. There is a date window between the four o'clock and five o'clock positions. Two gauges on the dial indicate 24-hour time and the power reserve. The watch features a quartz movement, has a mineral crystal, and is water resistant to 165 feet (50 meters). It is covered by the manufacturer's 1-year warranty.

Automatic watches gain or lose at least 30 seconds a day. A minute is a little bit much, but not unheard of, even in Swiss watches costing thousands of dollars. The company just needed to regulate the time a little -- a commom and simple problem. They did not need to replace the watch. No one buys an automatic watch for their accuracy. If you want accuracy, buy a quartz watch. People buy Automatics for their aestetic qualities and the lack of a need for battery replacement.
The rattle noise you heard was the rotor that winds the mainspring that powers the watch. All automatics have this rattle.
People like you, that know nothing about the products they purchase, create problems for everyone interested in these products -- problems for: the manufacturer,the distributor,the retailer, and the consumer (you).

I purchased my Timex Automatic only to learn over a short period of time that it was fast...really fast! It gained about (30) thirty minutes a month... or an hour and a half over (3) three months! I returned the watch to Timex under warranty and they replaced it. The (New) replacement watch arrived and it "rattled"...sounded like something was broken inside. I called and Timex has warranted this watch for the third time. Hopefully...the third time is the charm. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the quality of this watch. Incidentally, AMAZON was great... they had the best price and provided me with information regarding the Timex warranty when I had trouble.
