Fun Watch February 2, 2010 J. W. H. Cheung (Akl , Nz) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's more the interface that attracted me to this watch ... the predictions are pretty accurate , yes the temperature is higher when the watch is worn ... however that's understandable just as if a thermometer was placed near a heat source ... just minus a few degrees and you have the right degree... the compass is a nice function to have and is accurate.. as for the weather prediction icon don't forget it's predicting the temperature in advance so the next 6 - 8 hrs not the current .. and it's always going to be a prediction.. so nothing is set in stone... Overall very pleased with this watch and it's just a fun one as well....
Enjoy~

for an abc watch this is the most accurate overall that i have used. i also have suuntos, casios, and highgear abc watches. this watch is very user friendly, much more so than the suuntos and highgear. only negative is that it is a "huge" watch. i really like it though in spite of size.
Watch Works Great! June 18, 2010 dcpenguin 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using the balck version of this WS4 watch in Denver, Colorado for a week now and have found the altimeter to be very accurate. I calibrated it at the mile high stairs on the capitol steps elevation marker for 5,280 feet, and drove to Estes Park. At the 2 mile high marker it was only off by 5 feet (should have read 10,560 feet but read 10,565 feet), drove to the gift shop close to 8,000 feet (can not remember the exact elevation) and it was only off by one foot at their elevation sign, and then drove back to the capitol steps in Denver where it was exactly where it should have been at 5,280 feet. Calibrate it on the day of your adventure like you are suppose to and it is very accurate and a pleasure to use.
Good, but need to set it up correctly March 9, 2010 Tada 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I owned a Casio Pathfinder for 10 years. Now, I have Timex Expedition WS4. They both have Triple Sensor Altimeter/Barometer/Digital Compass. They are good watches. I would like to capare them together.
To compare a Casio Pathfinder to Timex Expedition WS4:
- SET UP. Casio Pathfinder does not need to be set up. You can start using it out of the box. Timex Expedition WS4 does need to be set up correctly for every sensors before you can start using it. If the set up is not correct, you will get the wrong reading. CASIO Win.
- READING. Casio Pathfinder has a botton for each of the sensors. You can read the sensors by one push of button. Timex Expedition WS4 has only 1 button for all secsors reading. You have to continue pressing that button until you find the sensor that you want to read. CASIO Win.
- SIZE. Both are big watch. No Winner.
Timex Expedition WS4 is a good watch to have for your outdoor activities. However, I give Timex Expedition WS4 4 stars. The main reason is because it cannot beat my 10 years old Casio Pathfinder.

Having viewed many many pages of watches on the Amazon web site I finally decided that this could be the watch I was looking for. Once ordered it arrived within a very short time. To my surprise and initial consternation it was much bigger than I had expected but once I got used to it it is quite comfortable and fairly easy to use. Functionality wise it has all the functions an outdoors adventurer could want (except for GPS functionality). It is easy to read anjd jumping between functions is simple. All in all a very nice watch.
